A comic con is not complete without the attendance of the world’s most talented comic artists. During Heroes Dutch Comic Con, the Netherlands’ largest Comic Con, every edition is packed with the greatest illustrators, pencillers, color artists and writers within the industry. Fans get to request commissions, have their favorite books signed, buy original art pages and attend interesting panels by the artists. Now, the organisation is proud to present its largest ever comic artist line-up for their upcoming Summer edition on 21, 22 and 23 June.
Never before were there this many comic artists scheduled to appear during Heroes Dutch Comic Con. Eleven of the largest names in the world of comics, including the editor-in-chief at DC Comics, are coming to Utrecht for the three-day event at the Jaarbeurs.

The artists have been in the comic industry for years and work for the biggest publishers in the world. Fans can get their favorite artworks signed or even request a commission for a unique artwork of their own. In addition, for the first time, a once-in-a-lifetime experience will be offered for the biggest comic book fans. Only a handful of fans will get the chance to join the artists during a boat trip through the canals of Utrecht, where they can engage with them in a informal setting, while enjoying a snack and a drink. Tickets for the experience go on sale on Sunday, April 14.
Become the best illustrator
For anyone aspiring to a career as a comic artist themselves, there is the opportunity to have their portfolio reviewed by Marie Javins, who, as editor-in-chief at DC Comics, knows better than anyone else how a good comic is put together. All submitted portfolios will be provided with feedback from her professional and artistic point of view. Those wishing to learn the ins and outs of good artwork can join one of the panels in the Cozy Corner. Here, comic artists share their expertise on a variety of topics, such as essential drawing techniques and how to put yourself in the spotlight with major comic publishers, and Marie will host her own “How to get work at DC Comics” orientation panel for aspiring artists.
A front row seat at exclusive book launches
During the upcoming Summer edition of Heroes Dutch Comic Con, two brand new books will be presented, as the very first in the world. Peter Milligan and Raül Fernandez will present their own Arthouse Thriller “Profane”, the mind-bending murder mystery set on the sunbaked streets of Los Angeles. Peter Milligan’s exceptional writing combined with Raül Fernandez’s lively artwork makes “Profane” a thrilling story that no one should miss.
In addition, Joanne Starer presents her brand new work, “Total Suplex of the Heart”, a coming-of-age literary comic set in the world of professional wrestling. A young journalist goes undercover in the local wrestling scene to do research for an article, but gradually encounters important life lessons. Starer, with the help of illustrator Ornella Greco, creates a compelling book that is impossible to put down.
