On august 3rd the official Pokémon channel posted a video on YouTube with a lot of Pokémon news (video at the bottom of this page). In this video, they went in-depth on the 2 new Pokémon games. If you don’t feel like watching the whole video, we are here to give you the highlights of what was mentioned. Though do make sure to at least look at a few seconds of the video, so you can get a good idea of what the visuals of the game are like.

Pokémon is undeniably one of the biggest franchises out there at this moment. At this moment they have many things for their fans to enjoy. From the Pokémon series, it all started with, to the tens of Pokémon games they have released by now. There is no shortage of things for the Pokémon fans to enjoy and Pokémon Violet and Scarlet are about to be added to the list. What makes them different from most Pokémon games is that these are going to be the open-world Pokémon games! This is without a doubt one more step in the direction of creating the Pokémon experience you see in the series.

A open world full of Pokémon

The two new Pokémon games are completely open world and unlike most of the other Pokémon games the Pokémon walk around the place. Meaning you can go where ever you feel like, to check out what Pokémon are there. See a cool mountain, why not go there to check out what cool Pokémon live there?

Worried that you get bored walking around all of the time? Worry not, you get your own Pokémon that is your own personal ride. Well ride, it also flies and goes over water. So you won’t have trouble searching the ocean for the Gyarados you want.

The story

In this Pokémon game, there are 3 story lines you can enjoy. The only one mentioned in the video, however, is the classic: The gym battles. But unlike the classic game’s gyms, in this game gyms can be challenged in any order you want. How this will work out no idea, but if the gyms don’t work out perhaps the other 2 storylines will be the new highlight. With the game being open world there is a lot of fun stuff for the game makers to work with after all.

Terastallize

Scarlet and Violet will have a new game mechanic that is called Terastallize. All Pokémon in the game are able to use this Terastallize. This Terastallize will give the Pokémon a boost to his type and make his moves stronger. Some Pokémon, however, can change their types when they Terastallize. What the terastallisation will do will depend on the tera type of the Pokémon. For now, it seems kind of weird, but perhaps this will give you a reason to keep catching Pokémon until you got that terra type you want.

Co-op play

In Scarlet and Violet, you can explore the games alongside your friends. There is the option to play co-op with up to 4 players. How co-op will work out is not made clear. You don’t want a scenario in which you summon your friends and they take rare Pokémon away from you. Of course like any other Pokémon game, you cannot just play with your friends. You can also fight them in Pokémon battles to see who assembled the best team.

They also announced that there will be co-op raid battles to complete. These raid battles seem to take place against some rare terastallized Pokémon. These raid battles allow people to take their actions at their own timing. So you do not need to worry about waiting for that one slow player.

Final word

Did you get so excited that you can barely wait, well you can pre-order these games already.
Anyhow the game will release on November 18th 2022, so you can
either play the game by then or just wait until the reviews drop.
